We were a very tight group of families since we went through the first round of Dessert Storm. Junio 2007 10:47 Got a link to this site from my LT, MAJ Hal Le Brocq who I found from doing a search on the Military.com website. I was a Spec 4 stationed with Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 377th FA (Lance) from 82-84 and have often wondered what happened to Herzo?? Great idea and a great way to get in touch with folks not seen or heard from in a long time. |
147) Gary Eaton stuff4unme@comcast.netLocalización: Wrightsville, PA 17368 | Lunes, 4. Junio 2007 20:36 Hello y’all!! I was stationed on Herzo Base from January ’61 to June ’63 in the 183rd Co. One of my most funniest memories, that I don’t remember, was the time that my room mate couldn’t stand my snoring (after a long 3rd trick!) and he and a few buddies moved me AND my cot outside along the sidewalk! When it started to rain, they had to come out and move me back in . . . and I never woke up through the whole ordeal! What a hoot!! There are lots of great memories from there, Nurnberg and Munich. It would really be great to see some of the gang again; Earl Rau, ‘Whip’ Ronald Wilson, Sid Lichenstein (Donnell), Paul Vanderstratten and Vic Duran to name a few… |

115) Harold Le Brocq hal2059@sbcglobal.netLocalización: Dallas, TX | Jueves, 22. Febrero 2007 11:42 Hello fellow Herzo Base veterans and their family members. Herzo Base was my first active duty assignment after FA Officer Basic Course. I went from a brand new 2nd LT to CPT during the 5 years I was stationed there. I also met and married my wife, a fellow officer there named Opal Omura. We’ve been married for almost 23 years now and have 3 teenage sons. I started in B Battery, 2/377th FA, spent a year at 210th FA Bde headquarters in the S-1 section, then went back to B Battery, 2/377th FA as the XO/A&T Plt leader, culminating with a command of C Battery, 2/377th FA. My wife and I met so many great officers, NCOs, and soldiers there, and will always cherish those memories. I was there for 3 Brigade Commanders: COL Jerome Granrud, COL Charles Hood, and COL Clifton Potter. I also saw four 2/377th FA Battalion Commanders: LTC Harold Nelson, LTC Edward Alexander, LTC Charles Feldmayer, and LTC Robert Kimball. I was at Herzo Base from January 1982 through April 1987. I will never forget Herzo Base, and would be interested in hearing from those who knew me. I was hoping to one day take my sons there to show them where their mother and I met, but it appears there is not much left to see, but maybe one day anyway. |

112) Mel Gregory jhawk1000@cox.netLocalización: Wichita, Kansas | Domingo, 4. Febrero 2007 09:54 In a busy life, it is nice to stop and remember. I was at Herzo Base from March 1962 to March 1964 then finished up at Arlington Hall Station. Upon my leaving the service, I went back to school on the GI bill and received my law degree. I am still practicing law but close to retirement. I have been back to Germany many times and will return in May of this year for a wedding of one of my exchange sons in Cologne then off to Prague for a week or so. Married a photographer who has her own Pro Lab and does free lance photography which has taken us to Romania to photograph the girls at the Olympic Gymnastic training center at Deva, a wedding in Ploiesti, Romania and with her for travel photography all over Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Amsterdam. Was back to Herzogenaurach probably 10 times but only to the Base twice, once when it was still functioning as an army base and once when it was open as the Adidas headquarters. Many friends in my mind but gone from my reach. Hopefully some will see this and reply.Mel |
111) Pat Curry patjcurry@rcn.comLocalización: Philadelphia Suburbs | Jueves, 1. Febrero 2007 18:36 Great site. I was assigned to the Herzo Base Dispensary from Nov. 1960 thru Oct. 1962. Permanent assignment was the 20th Station Hospital in Nurnberg. Loved the downtown area, especially the Rosegarten, Cafe Adler and the Mauser. I visited again in 2000 with some friends and my son and found it very enjoyable. Since we were not assigned to any of the ASA units we participated in sports with the Air Force personnel whose barracks were right down the street from the dispensary. |
