ANDREWS BARRACKS

BERLIN GERMANY

(SOURCE: AMERICANS IN BERLIN)

Starting in 1947, the barracks bore the name of Lieutenant General Frank Maxwell Andrews (1884–1943), the former commander of US Armed Forces in Europe, who died when his B-24 crashed during an inspection flight over Iceland. Following the Americans’ withdrawal, the site was redeveloped and has served as a German Federal Archives location since 1995.

  7. Thanks for the video it has changed since 1972. I heard the 287th MP barracks where i lived were no longer there. I used to go to the Home bar, Linda’s lounge, and frank’s Pig Pin which are probably nit there as well. The speak easy at that time was just a small place. I believe it was bought and owned by a couple guys that stayed in Berlin after their service ended. I doubt i will ever go back even though i have wanted to since i left in March 1975. Again, i appreciate your video and happy you got to go back and make a video. Thank You for your Service. GOD BLESS YOU !!
