  1. I was a draftee. Basic at Fort Ord, then off to Fort Knox with the 132nd Armor in company supply for 7 months. Went to Vietnam to serve with the 716th MP Battalion in Cholon. I was one of the lucky ones who had a good duty assignment in Vietnam. In country 68-69.

    1. Very happy that you made it home I was a kid growing up in that Era though none of my relatives didn’t service but to see so many in our neighborhood brothers uncles fathers didn’t to see come back home whenever a military came every one would stop what they were doing to see the service men’s with the flag purple heart walking in the yard to the door where we could hear the screaming and grief I was truly hurt for the families 😢 why I cares for the veterans and the men who serving today and women all have my love

      1. Vanessa, thank you. I feel a lot of love for all of our men and women in uniform and for caring people like you.

    2. Vietnam 68-69. Had ok job over there. I was a scout dog handler with the 41st Scout Dog Plt 1st Inf Div, Lia Khe. I was a point man for the infantry. My dogs name was Dug (112M).

  2. My brother was in vietnam but would never talk about it. Drafted at 24 then out at 26 to finish up his degree at Indiana University, Now with a great job and it’s a full time job.

  3. Hey looking for some folks from the 483 for my dad. He was E-5 Lacy Kilby and was a 76P40 supply clerk. He has just shown me his discharge papers and this is the first time he has ever told me anything about his time in Vietnam. I’ve been trying to get him to say something for years. All of a sudden he wants to try and connect with some old buddies.

  4. I took the pain, played the game and I’m still kicking after all these years.

    1. Your right about that, a lot of the guys didn’t. I guess all of us that did can be thankful.

  5. Only to types of weather over there. Hot and Dry or Hot and Wet. Sometimes it rained day and night for weeks at a time. When we were out in the field your mess kit would fill up with water before you could take 2 or 3 bites.

  6. GOOD IDEA. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ALL THE VIETNAM VETERANS. LEAVE US YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS MATTER, I WAS OVER THEER MYSELF. I’VE NEVER HAD MUCH TO SAY ABOUT IT.

    1. I WENT OVER ON THE USSNS BLACHFORD WITH THE 11TH AIR ASSUALT DIVISION. WHEN WE GOT THERE THE 11TH WAS CONBINED WITH THE 1ST CAV AND THAT MADE THE 1ST AIR CAV. BY THEN I HAD BEEN MOVED OVER TO MAC V. SPENT THE REST OF MY TIME OVER WITH MAC V.
