LEDWARD BARRACKS

SCHWEINFURT, GERMANY

Construction of the Panzer Kaserne was completed in 1936. The Panzer Kaserne was renamed Ledward Barracks in honor of LTC William J. Ledward. Colonel Ledward was killed in action in Italy, June 1944. He was the Commanding Officer of the 27th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. The US Army took control of Ledward Barracks in 1948.

  1. I was Station that Ledward Barricks, 1976, 1977 learned a lot from that place I loved it

  2. I was stationed at Ledward from 12/9/65 to 11/21/67. I miss those guys so much. Didn’t keep up with any of them. I was young and didn’t think about anything but going home.
    I’m 75 and still working here in my home state of Oklahoma. God bless you all and stay safe.
