The former Bad Aibling Station (BAS) has officially been designated as 18th United States Army Security Agency Field Station and a.k.a. Field station 81, or Hortensie III. Currently it is a satellite tracking station operated by the German SIGINT agency Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) from nearby Mangfall Barracks in Bad Aibling, Bavaria.

I was there for eight years and went to many fests
I was there in the late 80’s. I remember the view looking into the Alps. I sure made some memories there
My family lived there from 1972-1975, I hated moving from the U.S. as a child but loved living there! the freedom we had as children was something that cannot e recreated, good memories.
I lived on base from 1972 to 1976. All the buildings on the base were connected by underground tunnels.
I need to come visit this blog more often! Your content is amazing 🙂
Omg! I was stationed there when I was in the Air Force. Never took any pictures because it was such a gloomy and depressing place. But I did love Germany, had a great time my 3 years there.
I have heard there was a tunnel from the station into the city, can you confirm this? I’m searching for the tunnel
Greating from a local
There was a tunnel from B company barracks to the officers quarters…we ‘borrowed’ some things, lol
